Aug 12, 2023Kicker, a Basic Pack for installing a sound system on board your boat
When you own a boat, you like to equip it with the very best. Without breaking the bank, Kicker offers a sound system perfectly suited to pleasure craft, whether you're fishing in fresh water or water-skiing at sea.
The Basic Pack has been designed for all first-time buyers to get started with their musical installation, offering a solution that is simple to use and assemble, but above all that can be upgraded as needs change. But First doesn't mean low-end, because at Kicker, musical quality is paramount!
The Basic Pack includes a KMC2 PA system and two speakers. The KMC2 is a 4 x 25 W sound system. This means that up to 4 speakers can be connected, with the option of adjusting the sound separately in the 2 zones. The speakers in the kit are 4-inch KM44s, each rated at 50 W RMS. A special feature of Kicker speakers is that they come with 2 grilles, white or anthracite, so you can adapt them to your boat's environment.
Pack Basic is easy to install. All you need is a hole saw to drill the holes in the desired locations. One 75 mm hole for the sound system and two 100 mm holes for the speakers. The kit comes complete with 2 x 5 m wires to connect the speakers, and even waterproof boxes to ensure the system's longevity. All that's required is for the PA system to be connected to a 12 V power supply.
Later, the Basic Pack can be upgraded by adding a second pair of speakers, or even better, by connecting an amplifier (the RCA pins are designed for this purpose) to obtain more power from larger speakers or even a subwoofer.
For music, the KMC2 incorporates a tuner for AM and FM radio, and an antenna is included in the kit. On the rear panel, you can plug in a music source via the Mini Jack or USB socket. But this device also supports Bluetooth sources. Of course, the KMC2 keyboard is waterproof to IP 67, as are the speakers, to withstand adverse weather conditions.
Imported by Kent Marine Equipment, the Basic Pack is available for less than 350 euros (incl. VAT). For this price, the sound quality is top-notch. Even at full volume, the sound never saturates!
